Founder’s story

Founded in 2019, 3Rwater, Inc. was created to expand access to innovative water management solutions that strengthen climate resilience and support healthier communities.

Founder Lauren Roth Venu is an ecopreneur, TEDx speaker, and published author focused on developing nature-based solutions for water and climate challenges. Her passion for ecological water systems began while studying Water Resources at the University of Colorado Boulder, where undergraduate research into the ability of sunflowers to remediate radioactive contaminants inspired her path toward regenerative environmental design.

After graduation, Lauren worked with environmental bioneer Dr. John Todd, inventor of the Living Machine® technology, gaining firsthand experience in ecological approaches to treating and managing water. She later earned her MSc in Oceanography from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and founded Roth Ecological Design International (REDI) in 2006, where she developed integrated water resource strategies, green infrastructure design, climate adaptation plans, and onsite water reuse systems for developers, institutions, and public agencies.

Through her work, Lauren identified a critical need for better tools to measure, manage, and communicate the value of distributed stormwater infrastructure. That insight led to the creation of 3Rwater and Follow the Drop™ — a stormwater management and data platform designed to help utilities and communities build long-term climate resilience.

Lauren believes that activating local communities in stormwater management practices and regenerating natural systems in urban spaces will be critical for climate adaptation and mitigating the effects of increased urbanization and climate pressures.

3Rwater was born from the desire to restore water cycles, positively impact cities and create adaptation solutions to climate change.
